Banded Lapwing Vanellus tricolor July 15th, 2018 Werribee, Victoria, Australia Canon EOS 1D X Mark II Canon EF 600mm f4L IS II USM lens Canon EF 1.4x III Extender Banded Lapwings, unlike their cousins Masked Lapwings, are usually quite shy birds. They like to hang out in open grasslands & agricultural land in small flocks. This particular bird was found in a recently ploughed field with seven other Lapwings. I was fortunate that a flock of ravens were hassling the Lapwings & they landed close to where I was photographing a Nankeen Kestrel.
