This large billabong is home to hundreds of waterbirds & apparently a few Crocodiles as well. There were quite a few Comb-crested Jacana on the billabong, including several with young. They would dart about the lilies & quickly change directions with a bit of a flap & splash!

Partridge Pigeon Geophaps smithii September 12th, 2019 Jabiru, Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory, Australia Canon EOS 1D X Mark II Canon EF 600mm f4L IS II USM lens Canon EF 1.4x III Extender Meet Charlie. We dubbed this little champ "Six o'clock Charlie" because on two consecutive evenings he would wander into a leaky tap at the Kakadu Visitors Centre for a drink at almost 6pm on the dot! Whilst he wasn't shy, he was very quick which made photographing him quite challenging. I was pretty stoked to walk away with just a portrait! We found a couple of small groups of these birds around Jabiru, where they are known quite well locally. But they are a mostly ground dwelling bird & spend most of their time in dense scrub.
