There were quite a few pairs nesting in the soft sandy ground, & the old gravestones made for interesting perches.

Tasmanian Boobook Ninox leucopsis October 19th, 2018 Cape Liptrap, Victoria, Australia Canon EOS 1D X Mark II Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS II USM lens Canon 600EX II-RT flash For a few weeks during Spring each year, Cape Liptrap becomes a staging area for a flock of Tasmanian Boobooks before they head home across Bass Strait. It's suspected this subspecies of the Southern Boobook migrates to the mainland during Winter. Well worth the late night trip home to spend a couple of hours with these beautiful little owls.
