Glossy Ibis Plegadis falcinellus September 30th, 2018 Scoresby, Victoria, Australia Canon EOS 1D X Mark II Canon EF 600mm f4L IS II USM lens Canon EF 1.4x III Extender An uncommon visitor to Victoria, the stunning Glossy Ibis is a sight to behold. When a sighting was reported at a wetland near my work, I spent a couple of afternoons in pursuit of this beauty. I crawled about 30m through the mud & water to a small gap in the reeds where this bird was feeding with stilts and Australian White Ibis. The birds knew I was there, & to my surprise, both the White & Glossy Ibis came over to my location to investigate! A wonderful experience to have a rare bird so close.
Pacific Black Duck Anas superciliosa August 26th, 2018 Scoresby, Victoria, Australia Canon EOS 1D X Mark II Canon EF 600mm f4L IS II USM lens Canon EF 1.4x III Extender Although named Pacific Black Duck, the only black plumage on this species is the striking black stripe across the face. The beautiful buff-edging of each feather on the body & a usually hidden panel of magnificent iridescence feathers on the wing really make this common duck a beauty!

Such stunning plumage!
