Orange-footed Scrubfowl Megapodius reinwardt September 28th, 2019 East Point, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia Canon EOS 1D X Mark II Canon EF 600mm f4L IS II USM lens Canon EF 1.4x III Extender I was pretty happy to find a pair of these Scrubfowl foraging out in the open at East Point in Darwin. They are usually found amongst dense bushland using those huge feet & claws to dig through leaf litter. This pair found something of interest in the middle of a clearing & were busy excavating!

They were quite common, but proved to be pretty flighty. Thankfully I found a confiding individual on the last morning of our trip & after a few minutes of crawling in the dirt I managed this nice portrait that really shows off the wonderful barring.
