Hooded Plover Thinornis rubricollis Vulnerable in Australia & Victoria February 2nd, 2019 Cape Paterson, Victoria, Australia Canon EOS 1D X Mark II Canon EF 600mm f4L IS II USM lens Canon EF 1.4x III Extender One of my favourite things about visiting Cape Paterson is there are several pairs of Hooded Plovers along most of the beaches. I particularly like exploring the reefs as they make for such interesting surroundings. This image was taken just prior to sunset.
Pink Robin (male) Petroica rodinogaster December 10th, 2018 Beechy Forrest, Victoria, Australia Canon EOS 1D X Mark II Canon EF 600mm f4L IS II USM lens Canon EF 1.4x III Extender Canon 600EX II-RT flash with extender This somewhat elusive species breed in dark, densely vegetated gullies in moist eucalypt forests or cool temperate rainforests, which can make photography a little tricky. However, this little beauty & his mate have made their home at the base of a waterfall in the Otway Ranges which allows enough natural light through the forest canopy to produce some really nice images.
